The anti-hijab protests, which went on for four months in the country of Iran have now come to a halt. Despair protestors have now started returning to their homes, abandoning the demonstrations. The major reason behind this move on the part of the protestors is that no effect of these demonstrations against the government seem to be impacting the ruling regime in any form. Opposed to what was expected, the government is turning to even stringent attitudes.

The protest demonstrations have come to an end, but the official announcement of the same has not been made yet. In the meanwhile, the angst against the government is still brewing among the people of the country. Due to participating in the protests, more than 20 thousand people from footballers, actors, journalists, to students have been imprisoned. More than 100 people have been sentenced to death. 4 demonstrators have already been hanged till death.

On the other hand, even though Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is sighing in relief after four months, the people of the country have maintained their opposition.

University campuses, wherein the demonstrations were carried out for the longest periods, have now been turned into fortresses with the help of security guards and cameras. Banners praising the Islamic Republic have been put up and restrictions have been imposed on internet services.
