The number of the people who lost their lives due to the bombing at the hands of the terrorist outfit, Tehreek-e-Taliban, in Pakistan’s Peshawar, went beyond 100 on Tuesday. 221 injured people were taken to the Lady Reading Hospital, out of whom more than 100 are being treated. And in the meanwhile, the people’s anger after the terrorist attack has come to the fore, and at some places, demonstrations took place against the attack. MPs in the Upper House got furious at Islamabad, the country’s capital, with the TTP gaining strong ground.

The MPs expressed their anger against the officials who could not avert the terrorist attack, and they said that a joint meeting of the MPs of both the houses should be called regarding this matter. Jamaat-e-Islami MP, Mushtaq Ahmed, said that this should take place behind closed doors so that the related officials can be held accountable for the law and order situation. He added that despite the poverty and economic crisis, the country of Pakistan is giving billions of dollars to the armed forces and the police, and questioned as to why the terrorist attacks are not stopping despite this being done.

Ahmed said that the parliament has the right to ask the security organizations as to why such incidents are taking place, and why the secret agencies are unsuccessful in curbing the attacks. During the last 22 years, 15997 terrorist attacks have taken place in Pakistan, in which a total of 28, 918 people (both citizens and soldiers) lost their lives. Which means, on an average, 4 people were killed every day. This year, till January 30th, 31 terrorist attacks took place in the country, in which 4 citizens and 140 soldiers were killed.

365 attacks were reported in 2022, in which 229 people were killed, and 379 soldiers lost their lives. Back in 2021, in 267 attacks, 214 citizens, and 226 soldiers were killed.
