Bengauru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced all possible help to the earthquake victims in Turkey.

“At this time we all have our eyes fixed on the devastating earthquake in Turkey. There are reports of many tragic deaths and extensive damage. The sympathies of 140 crore people of India are with the earthquake victims. We are ready to provide all possible help to the earthquake victims,” he said addressing the India Energy Week hee.

A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit southern Turkey and northern Syria early Monday, causing buildings to collapse. Hundreds of people were killed and hundreds injured, with the toll expected to rise. The tremor was felt across the region, including in Lebanon, Israel, and Iraq.

A large-scale rescue operation is underway, with both Turkey and Syria declaring the highest alert level. Syria is planning to engage the armed forces in order to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake.

Similar offers of relief have also been shared by the US, Israel and other countries.

“The US is profoundly concerned by today’s destructive earthquake in Turkiye and Syria. I have been in touch with Turkish officials to relay that we stand ready to provide any and all needed assistance. We will continue to closely monitor the situation in coordination with Turkiye,” tweeted White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
