Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese will watch the fourth India-Australia Test match here on Thursday.
Both the dignitaries will visit the Narendra Modi Stadium on Day 1 of the Test and watch the first hour of play before leaving for other scheduled itineraries.
Australian High Commissioner Barry O’Farell said, “One of the things that binds both countries is Cricket and it will be great to see the leaders of India and Australia on day one of the match in Ahmedabad.”
PM Albanese is on an official visit to India till March 11. He had arrived at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport in the city yesterday and was welcomed by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
PM Albanese also visited Sabarmati Ashram, which was once the home of Mahatma Gandhi which also served as one of the main centres of India’s freedom struggle.
Albanese also celebrated Holi at Raj Bhavan at Gandhinagar which was organised by the Governor in honour of the visiting dignitary and his delegation.
Artists from different states, including Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, performed traditional dance forms at the event.
