Nagpur: Nagpur Police on Tuesday took into custody a murder case convict from a jail in Karnataka’s Belagavi in connection with the threat calls made to Nagpur’s Public Relations Office of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, a senior police official told UNI on Tuesday.

According to the official, the convict, identified as Jayesh Pujari alias Jayesh Kantha, was taken into custody from the Hindalga jail and brought to Nagpur in a flight on Tuesday morning.

The official further informed that Jayesh Pujari would be interrogated to know his motive behind making the threat calls on two occasions to Nitin Gadkari.

He would be produced before a local court in the afternoon, the official said.

Pertinently, on January 14, the caller identifying himself as Jayesh Pujari and claiming that he was a member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang, made threatening calls to Gadkari’s public relations office in Nagpur and demanded Rs 100 crore.

On March 21, once again, threatening calls were made to the Union Minister demanding Rs 10 crore.

However, Pujari had denied any involvement in the threat calls.

Two cases are registered against Pujari at Dhantoli police station in Nagpur city in connection with the threat calls.
