Mumbai: Leader of the Opposition Ajit Pawar on Saturday expressed displeasure over what he called inaccurate reports in certain sections of the press regarding him.

In his statement Pawar stated that for the last few days, he undertook several tours across Maharashtra, which left him deprived of adequate sleep. Due to the heat and inadequate sleep, the problem of acidity (Pitta) increased and his health deteriorated.

“Therefore, I left the tour and took medicine on the doctor’s advice and was resting at Jijai’s residence in Pune,” he said.

He went on to express displeasure that he was defamed for no reason as sections of the press reported that he was not reachable,

“Since last few days I was on a tour across Maharashtra. During this tour, I was very tired, I didn’t get any rest, I didn’t get enough sleep. It adversely affected my health, increased bile. So yesterday afternoon I suddenly started feeling restless. So after consulting the doctor, I took medicines and rested at the residence of ‘Jijai’ in Pune. But during this period, the media carried wrong news that I was ‘not reachable’. There is a limit to how much one can defame someone without any justification,” he lamented.

“As we are public figures, the media has the right to report about us. But it is not right to run wrong news without any verification” he added.
