Nitish leaves for New Delhi for talks on opposition unity

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar left for New Delhi on Tuesday for talks on opposition unity to counter BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Kumar during his stay in New Delhi, will hold talks with top opposition leaders including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. He will also call on RJD president Lalu Prasad recuperating at residence of his daughter Misa Bharti after kidney transplantation in Singapore.

Chief Minister had earlier called on top leaders including Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi in September last year to forge unity among opposition at national level.

He had strongly advocated that any form of opposition unity to counter the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections would not be possible without Congress.

Kumar differed with Telangana Chief Minister K C Rao who was in favour of floating a front without Congress. Kumar had also said he himself was not an aspirant for the post of Prime Minister and only interested to forge opposition unity at national level which would oust BJP from the power in 2024.
