Award ceremony tragedy, Death toll rises to 11 in heatstroke incident

Mumbai: The death toll in the tragic incident at the Maharashtra Bhushan award ceremony has risen to 11.

People died due to heatstroke which took place yesterday during felicitation of Dr. Appasaheb Dharmadhikari by union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The many are in critical condition and have been admitted in various hospitals.

According to information received more than 100 people are still admitted in various hospitals.

Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe criticized the government by tweeting. “People suffered because the meeting was held in the afternoon in the hot April sun.”

Many people fell down due to dizziness during the event itself, while many people also vomited. Many people are undergoing treatment at Tata Hospital in Kharggar, Upazila Hospital in Panvel and Medi Cover Hospital and some of them are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde meet the people admitted at hospitals. It is reported that some people have also been admitted to MGM Hospital.
