Khalistani Amritpal Singh arrested by Punjab police, flown to Dibrugarh jail

On Sunday morning, fugitive Khalistani separatist and Waris Punja De Chief, Amritpal Singh was arrested in Punjab’s Moga by a team led by SSP Amritsar Rural, Satinder Singh. Amritpal had been booked under the National Security Act (NSA). The radical Khalistani separatist was on a run since March 18th.

Following his arrest, Amritpal Singh was flown to the Dibrugarh jail, Assam. He was brought to the Dibrugarh jail by road under heavy security cover. Earlier, a special chartered flight had taken off from the Bathinda airport, accompanied by a team of Punjab police, which reached the Dibrugarh airport, where the Punjab police team was received by Dibrugarh SP, Shwetank Mishra.

Prior to this, 9 accomplices of Khalistani Amritpal Singh have already been lodged in the Dibrugarh jail under the NSA, and they are Daljeet Singh Kalsi, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Papalpreet Singh, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Bhagwant Singh, Basant Singh, Gurinder Singh Aujla, and Amritpal’s uncle, Harjit Singh.

On Saturday, Union Minister Amit Shah had said that Amritpal Singh could soon be behind bars.

Singh was arrested from the Rode village at 6.45 AM on Sunday morning under the NSA. Hiding in a Gurudwara, he surrendered after he got to know that he had been surrounded by the police and had no way to escape, following which he was arrested.
