Bengaluru: Senior Congress leader MB Patil on Friday said all communities, including Lingayats and Dalits should be given their due share of power in the cabinet.

“Whichever community – Lingayats, Dalits, Vokkaligas, STs, and Muslims – voted for the Congress, they have to be given their due share. I am confident the party leadership will do the same. They will bestow respect on these communities,” he told a section of media.

Asked about Lingayats demanding DyCM’s post for him, Patil said the expectations of the community are very high since they have shifted their allegiance to the Congress from BJP. “I am confident the party leadership will give the community its due share,” he said.

Reacting to Patil and G Parameshwara being upset over being denied DyCM’s posts, Congress MLA and former minister TB Jayachandra said there is no question of any further DyCM demand as the party high command has decided to have only one.

“No, it is a decision of the high command to make DK Shivakumar the only Deputy Chief Minister. So, I don’t think other things will rise,” he stated.
