Hyderabad: Uppal Chowrasta, one of the busiest intersections in Hyderabad, no longer poses problems for pedestrians as Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Saturday inaugurated a new skywalk tower.

The skywalk, constructed by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) at a cost of Rs.36.50 crore, aims to address the pedestrian challenges faced by the public.

The newly built skywalk spans a length of 665 meters, with a vertical width of 4 meters and a height of six meters, providing a seamless connection between bus stops and the metro station, eliminating the need to cross the road.

To ensure convenience and accessibility, the skywalk is equipped with lifts, 4 escalators, and 6 staircases positioned at 8 strategic locations. Entry and exit points have been arranged at Nagole Road, Ramanthapur Road, GHMC Theme Park, Warangal Bus Stop near GHMC Office, Uppal Police Station, and Uppal Electrical Substation.

In addition to inaugurating the Skywalk Tower, Minister KTR also unveiled the Convention Center constructed at Shilparamam in Uppal Bhagayat.

The event witnessed the presence of Labour and Employment Minister Mallar Reddy, MLA Beti Subhash Reddy, former mayor of GHMC Bontu Rammohan, and several corporators.

The introduction of the skywalk at Uppal Square marks a significant milestone in improving pedestrian mobility and ensuring their safety in the bustling intersection.
