Police handed over sculpture of Goddess Lakshmi to Archaeology Department in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police in Baramulla on Tuesday handed over an old sculpture of Goddess Lakshmi to the department of Archaeology.

The old sculpture of Goddess Lakshmi was found in Sheeri Baramulla a few days ago by the locals during the digging of land and had informed the police accordingly.

A police party of Police Component Baramulla had rushed to the spot and took possession of the sculpture.

Today the team of Archives, Archaeology and Museums was called for examination of the recovered sculpture who after examining the sculpture thoroughly established that the recovered sculpture is of Goddess Lakshmi, a police statement said.

The sculpture was handed over to Registering Officer Antiquities, Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums Kashmir and his team by the Superintendent of Police Hqrs Baramulla Divya in presence of Peerzada Aijaz Ahmad-JKPS DySP DAR DPL Baramulla through proper handing and taking over procedure.
