Smoke rises from aircraft at St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport

Moscow: One of the planes at the Pulkovo Airport in Russia’s St. Petersburg suffered an engine malfunction, an emergency services representative told Sputnik.

“Smoke came from an aircraft engine at the St. Petersburg Pulkovo airport,” the representative said late on Friday night.

The representative added that nobody was injured.

The Boeing 777 plane operated by the Emirates airline was supposed to depart St. Petersburg for Dubai at 20:15 GMT on Friday.

The local transport prosecutor’s office said that the accident occurred at around 23:15 local time on Friday (20:15 GMT) and that the authorities were investigating the cause. The passengers of the flight were sent to the airport lounge.

According to the Pulkovo airport departures, the Emirates flight finally left for Dubai at 01:49 GMT on Saturday.
