A little while after the meeting held between Union Minister Amit Shah, and LJP (R) Chief, Chirag Paswan, at Shah’s residence in New Delhi, the BJP announced that Paswan will be joining the NDA, a decision which was being mulled over by the Bihar leader for quite some time now.

BJP President JP Nadda announced, ‘Lok Jan Shakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan has decided to join the NDA. I welcome him to the NDA family.’

This development comes just a day prior to the NDA meeting which will be held in the national capital. After the meeting held between Shah and Paswan, earlier today, Chirag had mentioned the ‘positive discussion’ with the union home minister, hinting towards the fact that he may join the NDA.

The meeting with Shah was seen as part of an exercise to finalize his party’s share of seats in Bihar for the 2024 General Assembly elections. Paswan has proposed the 6-1 rule for the seat share, which refers to 6 Lok Sabha and 1 Rajya Sabha seats for the LJP (R).
