Shimla: The persistent rain disrupted the Old Hindustan Tibet NH-5 at many places in Shimla and Kinnaur districts, stranding many vehicles on the highway.

A media report arrived here and confirmed that NH5 was hit by heavy boulders, mud, and a landslide at Baroni in Kinnaur and Kheneri in Shimla district.

A bridge on NH-5 escaped a massive landslide, but the water observatory on the bridge and NH5 was blocked by a huge landslide and boulders, which partly stopped the flow of water in the Baroni Khud.

On the highway, landslides and the uprooting of trees snapped the road communication between Shimla and Kinnaur district completely, which would take many days for restoration.

The district administration has sounded an orange alert for the next two days, and incessant rainfall is disrupting roads and footways in the district.
