Bengaluru: A delegation of Karnataka BJP on Saturday alleged PFI’s role in Udupi filming scandal, and has asked for an SIT enquiry into it after meeting Governor Thawaarchand Gehlot at Raj Bhavan.

The party also launched a tirade against the Congress by alleging that the Congress government is taking anti-Hindu and pro-jihadi stand into the issue.

It further alleged that the parents of the girl, who filmed the victim in a college washroom, are linked to the People’s Front of India (PFI). The government is also pressurising the whistleblowers by asking them not to speak on the scandal, BJP alleged.

“The girl who has recorded the video, her parents are related to the PFI. We are seeing an anti-Hindu stance by the Congress government. They are favouring Jihadis and the Governor has replied positively on the issue,” BJP MLA Yaspal Suvarna told reporters here.

Pressing for SIT enquiry into the scandal, BJP MLA Bharath Shetty said it is necessary because the Congress government has already termed it as a prank.

“We do not trust the investigation being conducted by an officer of Deputy SP’s rank as he is under the control of Congress government in Karnataka.

The Congress government has called it a prank and is not taking it seriously,” he said.

However, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dismissed BJP’s demand by saying that the SIT enquiry is not required as the police have registered a case against all the three accused.

“We are not worried about the allegations made by the BJP. DySP has been appointed to conduct the probe and it will be done in an impartial and fair manner,” he said.
