Washington: The number of deaths due to the wildfires in Hawaii increased to 67, Maui County said in a press release.

“As firefighting efforts continue, 12 additional fatalities have been confirmed as of 1 p.m. [Hawaii Standard Time] today amid the active Lahaina fire. This brings the death toll to 67 people,” the release said on Friday. “The Lahaina fire is not yet contained.”

Media reported that the new death toll number makes it the deadliest disaster in state history.
