J&K is progressing in every sector better than other states: LG Sinha

Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that Jammu and Kashmir has come out from the turmoil and it is progressing in every sector better than other states of the country.

Lieutenant Governor was speaking at the inauguration of the 44th Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) Inter-Unit Golf Tournament organized by ONGC at Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar on Monday.

“I welcome all the Golfers to Jammu Kashmir”, the Lieutenant Governor said.

He said Jammu and Kashmir has come out from the turmoil of several years and it is progressing in several sectors better than the other states of the country.

“I hope the tournament will definitely go in a better way and the players will play with the spirit of sportsmanship”, he said and added that “Whatever the misconception about Kashmir was there will be over during your stay here”.

He said that the players will like the people and their hospitality also here. “I hope that the time you will spend here will be memorable for you”, he said.

He said last year 1.28 Cr tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir and till august it has reached to 1.52 Cr and hope that by the end of the year it will reach 2.25 Cr.

Lieutenant Governor said that after successful conduction of G20 Tourism Working Group Meet here, there had been a 59 percent increase in the arrival of foreign tourists in Jammu and Kashmir.

“With the flourishing tourism, a message goes to the world that things have been changed in Jammu and Kashmir now”, he added.
