On Wednesday, October 11, the Union cabinet approved the establishment of the ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ (MY Bharat) autonomous body, which will create a physical and digital ecosystem to empower youth to provide fillip for the transformation of the community. The platform is aimed at enabling the government to engage with youth to realize their aspirations for the development of the country, on the path of turning India into a developed nation by the year 2047.

Addressing the media, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur, said that the MY Bharat platform will serve as an enabling mechanism for youth development and youth-led development. He added that the platform will provide equitable access to youth and build ‘Viksit Bharat’.

The MY Bharat platform will be launched on October 31, 2023.

An official release stated, ‘The new initiative will help in setting the focus of the government on youth-led development, and make the youth “active drivers” of development, and not merely “passive recipients”.’
