Vigilance sleuths unearths Disproportionate Assets worth crores of rupees from possession of Engineer

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials on Wednesday unearthed disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees from the possession of a Superintending Engineer in the office of the Engineer -in-Chief PH Division Bhubaneswar.

Vigilance sources here said on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets by Biswabandhu Panigrahi, the Superintending Engineer, simultaneous house searches were conducted by 7 DSPs, 5 Inspectors , 8 ASIs and other staff at six places in Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak.

During searches, so far, a double storied building at Bhubaneswar, advance Rs. 39 Lakh paid by Panigrahi to a real estate company to purchase a three BHK Flat in name of his spouse in Rudrapur, Bhubaneswar, One single storied building at Bhadrak, 4 plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak were detected.

The measurement and valuation of the above buildings/plots is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.

In addition to it, Rs 2 lakh in cash, around 250 grams of gold Insurance deposits worth over Rs 51 akh, Bank, Postal and other deposits are under verification.

One four-wheeler and four two-wheelers were also unearthed during search by the Vigilance officials so far.

Searches are continuing, the sources added.
