Agartala: With an aim to promote national integration and heritage among the young generation, Yuva Vikas Kendra, Tripura, a youth organisation that believes in Gandhian philosophy, will organise a weeklong Heritage Fest here starting on Thursday.

The chairman of the organisers, Tapan Lodh, said as many as 25 states in India would take part in the festival and showcase their culture and traditional heritage. The fest would provide a platform for the participating organizations to exchange cultural activities with other states.

Besides Indian states, representatives from neighbouring Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Indonesia are likely to join the fest to showcase their heritage, Lodh said, adding, “Although people are moving from one place to another for various purposes, they are not getting scope to interact with each other on culture and tradition. This fest will provide a platform for the youth.”

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha is scheduled to inaugurate the weeklong festival at Swami Vivekananda Stadium along with the Minister of Youth Affairs. Hundreds of enterprises across India and neighbouring countries would join the fest with their traditional cuisine, handlooms, handicrafts, and products, he added.
