Agartala: The Tripura Pradesh Congress on Tuesday demanded a judicial inquiry into the ongoing employment process for Group C categories being held under the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT), raising allegations of ‘gross irregularities’ in the selection process.

Tripura Congress President Ashis Kumar Saha told the media that the matter has been in the discussion since long, but three days ago, Chief Justice of Tripura High Court in a judgment directed the state government to provide jobs to five aspirants who secured higher marks in the test than the candidates who got recruited in various departments.

Highlighting the petition filed at Tripura High Court by at least five eligible candidates, Saha said, “The department has not made the detailed address and identity of the appointed candidates’ public, which clearly depicts the ill motive of the BJP-run state government.”

The government was found doing the irregularities in the recruitment process, he alleged, and added that the question of irregularity and corruption has not been raised by any political party. Since the High Court has asked the state government to appoint the eligible candidates within a month, it is the the duty of the state government to clear all doubts and prove themselves clean.

This is not the matter of only five candidates, but we believe that many deserving aspirants have been deprived of their jobs. Since the beginning, the state government has adopted dubious steps to recruit their preferred candidates, including some outsiders, and Congress has repeatedly warned the government to go for a fair deal in protecting the interests of the locals, Saha stated.

“We have less or no faith in the Tripura government and therefore demand a judicial investigation into all the steps from the beginning of the process of JRBT recruitments,” he added.
