Mumbai: Sony Entertainment Television’s much-loved singing reality show, ‘Indian Idol 14’, will welcome the legendary playback singer, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, for an episode themed ‘Abhijeet’s Challenge’ on Saturday.

The celebrated 90s singer will issue intriguing challenges to the contestants, some that test their singing mettle, while others will be fun-filled tasks wherein the contestants will put their best foot forward to pass the test.

While Obom will be given a challenge to sing a Sufi song, Piyush was asked to present a song in Ghazal style, Vaibhav was tasked with singing a song that Abhijeet and Kumar Sanu have sung together, and Anjana was asked to sing “Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein,” wherein the tune remains the same but the rhythm and tempo of the song are changed, amongst others.

But it was Ananya Pal, from Kolkata, who will be seen performing beautiful renditions of’Waada Raha Sanam’ from the movie ‘Khiladi’ and ‘Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main’ from the film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, songs originally sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya, compelling an impressed Kumar Sanu to compliment Ananya, saying, “Your voice is ready for playback”.

Impressed by Ananya’s singing style and sharing interesting insights about the song ‘Wada Raha Sanam’, ace singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya said, “This was not meant to be my song; it was meant to be for Balasubrahmanyam Saab. Music director Jatin-Lalit had hoped for Balasubrahmanyam and Lata Ji to perform this song together. But when things didn’t work out and rehearsals became difficult, it was agreed that Balasubrahmanyam and Alka Yagnik would sing it. I was then informed that I would dub the song, but then it was Champak Jain Ji’s trick that he would make me sing, and then we’d figure things out. However, it remained with my voice.”
