CSK felicitated for its 50th IPL win in Chepauk

Chennai: Five time winners and reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was felicitated on Sunday evening for recording its 50th IPL win at its home ground of Chepauk.

CSK defeated Rajasthan Royals by five wickets in its last home league match last evening and stayed in the hunt for a place in the play offs.

After registering its 50th win in 71st match, the team was felicitated at the iconic M.A.Chidambaram Stadium in front of a packed yellow brigade, which savoured the victory.

A CSK reelase said “Chennai Super Kings registered their 50th IPL win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium after they comfortably defeated Rajasthan Royals by five wickets in their final league game at Anbuden.”

The team was felicitated by the management for the milestone feat.

After the game, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team took a lap of honour around the stadium, thanking all the Super Fans for their support throughout the tournament.

Replying to RR’s 141 for five, CSK finished at 145 for five in 18.2 overs, winning with 10 balls to spare in a tense finish.

With this win, CSK jumped to the third spot with 14 points (seven wins in 13 matches) and need to win its last league match against RCB at Bengaluru on Saturday next to confirm its spot in the knockout.

Sunrisers Hyderabad too had 14 points (12 matches), but CSK was placed ahead on better net run rate.

First win – CSK won by six runs against Mumbai in IPL 2008

10th win – CSK won by 25 runs against Pune Warriors in IPL 2011

25th win – CSK won by 14 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2013

30th win – CSK won by 97 runs against Punjab Kings in IPL 2015

40th win – CSK won by 80 runs against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019

50th win – CSK won by five wickets against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024.
