Narendra Modi likely to take oath as Prime Minister on June 8 : sources

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to take oath for the third term here on June 8 as BJP-led NDA achieved a majority in the Lok Sabha, sources said on Wednesday.

The new cabinet of Union Ministers will also take oath on the same day.

The Union Cabinet recommended the dissolution on 17th Lok Sabha today.

Earlier, a meeting of the Union Cabinet was held at the PM’s residence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the results of the Lok Sabha election and the possible formation of the government after the NDA secured a majority. This was the last meeting of the Modi 2.0 cabinet and council of ministers.

The term of the current 17th Lok Sabha will end on June 16.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is scheduled to meet in Delhi today, a day after the Lok Sabha Election results.

The meeting will be chaired by Modi. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and TDP National President N Chandrababu Naidu will be present at the NDA meet.

The results of the Lok Sabha election came on Tuesday, with the BJP-led NDA winning 292 seats and achieving a majority.

The opposition INDIA bloc had won 234 seats. The BJP had won 240 seats alone, falling short of the 272 majority mark.
