Milwaukee, United States: Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is attending the third day of the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where his pick for vice president, JD Vance, is expected to speak, a Sputnik correspondent has reported.

Trump took a seat at the VIP podium as he did the previous two nights, the correspondent reported on Wednesday. The ex-president, who is still wearing a bandage over his right year after the assassination attempt last week, was greeted by guests and delegates of the convention with applause. This night’s RNC event is expected to conclude with a speech by Vance.

Trump is expected to deliver his first public speech since the July 13 assassination attempt on Thursday night.

On Saturday, a 20-year-old man tried to assassinate Trump at a campaign rally in the state of Pennsylvania, but the bullet from the gunman’s AR assault rifle grazed Trump’s right ear. US Secret Service agents killed the gunman moments after he was able to fire several rounds toward the stage, killing one spectator and critically injuring two others.

The FBI continues to investigate the shooting, but the suspect’s motive remains unknown, according to US law enforcement.
