Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent criticism, asserting that Telangana’s performance under Congress governance is comparable to any BJP-ruled state.

In a message on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister addressed the Prime Minister: “Dear Shri @narendramodi Ji, I am pleased to clarify some misconceptions and factual errors in your statements regarding our state and government.

Since the Congress government took office on December 7, 2023, Telangana has witnessed a renewed wave of hope and optimism, after nearly a decade of BRS rule. Within two days of assuming office, we implemented two major promises: free bus travel for women across all TGSRTC buses and healthcare coverage up to Rs 10 lakh under the Rajiv Arogyasree scheme.

In the last 11 months, women across Telangana have benefited from over 101 crore free bus trips, saving Rs 3,433.36 crore in total. Our government has also launched India’s largest state-level farmer loan waiver program, living up to the principle of Rythu Raju (the Farmer is King). Over 22.22 lakh farmers have had their loans up to Rs 2 lakh waived, with Rs 18,000 crore credited to farmers’ accounts within 25 days.

Women across Telangana also benefit from free electricity for homes consuming up to 200 units, unlike BJP-ruled states where high gas prices strain households. In Telangana, women can avail of LPG cylinders for just Rs 500. To date, over 1.31 crore cylinders have been refilled for more than 42.90 lakh beneficiaries, reducing household burdens.

After years of stalled recruitment under the previous government, we have initiated the largest hiring drive in the state, regularly conducting exams for Group 1 through Group 4 positions. In less than a year, the Congress government has provided jobs to over 50,000 eligible youths – a feat unmatched by any BJP-ruled state.

Our schoolchildren, long neglected under the BRS, now benefit from a 40 percent increase in funding for food and personal care items in welfare hostels. We have also begun the cleanup and restoration of the Musi River, as well as protecting lakes, nullahs, and other water bodies that faced rampant encroachment over the past decade.

Under Congress leadership, we are also laying the foundation for a Future City, with a comprehensive master plan underway. Initiatives like the Young India Skills University, YI Sports University, and YI Integrated Residential Schools are moving forward.

Every promise made to the people is a sacred commitment to us. In just 11 months, we have lifted Telangana out of the gloom left by the previous government. Like the morning sun, Telangana is now rising.” he said.
