CNN declares Trump projected winner in Texas with 40 electoral votes

Washington: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is expected to win Texas and the state’s 40 electoral votes, according to a projection made by the CNN broadcaster.

According to the broadcaster, Trump has received 54.1% of votes, while Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is supported by 44.5%.

The US presidential election is taking place on November 5. US Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, and former President Donald Trump, a Republican, are running in a razor-thin race, which is expected to be determined by voting results in seven key swing states, namely Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
