AP: Six devotees dead, several injured in Tirumala stampede

Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh): At least six devotees were killed and several others injured in a stampede at the Tirumala temple ticket counters for darshan during the Vaikunta adasi festival, on Wednesday night.

The injured have been shifted to the government Ruia hospital here. the condition of some of the injured was critical, police said here

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Trust Board Chairman B.R. Naidu along with board member Bhanu Prakash Reddy visited hospital.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will visit Tirupati on Thursday morning to meet the injured from the stampede at Vishnu Niwasam.

In a post on X, he called the incident “deeply disturbing” and expressed shock at the loss of lives during the rush for Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam tokens.

He directed officials to provide urgent relief and ensure better medical treatment for the injured.

The CM stated he is in constant touch with district and TTD authorities, closely monitoring the situation.
