Her name gained prominence when she emerged as a beacon of hope, working tirelessly for the welfare of the underprivileged in the slums of Mumbai, India’s financial capital and the hub of its film industry. These slum dwellers faced numerous hardships, and Rouble Nagi made significant contributions to their welfare, focusing on education for their children and promoting art among the community. Although she hails from Jammu and Kashmir, she embodies the principles of the Sikh ethos, emphasizing humanity and service, dedicating herself to uplifting the poor in Mumbai’s slums.

Her efforts have been widely appreciated, as evidenced by her book “Slum Queen,” which has been met with immense love from readers. Rouble Nagi is also the founder of the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, an organization renowned across India. The foundation undertakes initiatives such as educating underprivileged children, empowering women with employment opportunities, supporting orphaned children, and establishing tailoring and embroidery centers, with over a dozen functional centers in Kashmir alone.

Rouble Nagi’s new role in the National Commission for Minorities will not only enhance her social work but also help address the challenges and grievances of minority communities across the country.
