Amritsar (Punjab): The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Thursday expressed strong objection to Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’.

The SGPC said the film seems to be tarnishing the image of Sikhs and misrepresents the history. It demanded a ban on its release in the state on January 17.

SGPC President Advt. Harjinder Singh Dhami has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in this regard.

The letter stated that if the film is released, there will be outrage and anger among the Sikhs, and therefore it is the responsibility of the government to ban it in the state.

If this film is released, the SGPC will strongly oppose it, he warned.
