New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday requested the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement a 50 per cent concession on metro fares for students.
In his letter to the Prime Minister, Kejriwal said, “I am writing this letter to draw your attention to an important matter concerning school and college students in Delhi. A large number of students in Delhi depend on the metro for commuting to their schools and colleges.”
He proposed a 50 per cent concession on metro fares for students to ease their financial burden. He highlighted that the Delhi Metro is a 50:50 joint venture between the Delhi Government and the Central Government, and therefore, the cost of this concession should also be shared equally by both governments.
“On our part, we are planning to make bus travel completely free for students. I am confident that you will agree with this proposal,” he added.
