COAS visits Srinagar to review security, operational preparedness

Srinagar: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi visited Srinagar to assess the current security situation and review the operational preparedness of the forces, Army said on Tuesday.

The Army’s chief visit comes on a day when Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a three-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir. The Home Minister is scheduled to hold a high level security review meeting in Srinagar on Tuesday.

Army said, during his visit, General Dwivedi received a detailed briefing from the General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar- based Chinar Corps on the prevailing security scenario in the region.

The Army Chief also interacted with formation commanders and held discussions on a wide range of security-related issues.

Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) in a post on X said General Dwivedi visited Srinagar to assess the current security situation and operational preparedness.

“ …COAS commended all ranks for their unwavering commitment, operational readiness and professionalism,” the ADGPI said.
