Bengaluru: A day after former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was found stabbed to death, his wife Pallavi was arrested late Monday night by the HSR Layout Police and his daughter Kriti was detained and questioned.

The case has been transferred to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for a detailed investigation.

The First Information Report (FIR), filed on the basis of a complaint by Om Prakash’s son Karthikesh, 38, has named both Pallavi and Kriti as suspects. They have been booked under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), 2023, pertaining to murder.

In his complaint, Karthikesh alleged that both his mother and sister suffered from depression and frequently quarrelled with Om Prakash. He also claimed that Pallavi had issued death threats to his father, prompting him to stay with his sister Sarita Kumari for a week. On April 18, Kriti allegedly brought her father back home.

The murder came to light on the afternoon of April 20, when Karthikesh, who was at work in Domlur, received a call from a neighbour informing him about the incident. On reaching the house, he found his father lying dead with multiple stab wounds and a broken bottle nearby, and the police already present.

Om Prakash’s funeral was held at the Wilson Garden electric crematorium on Monday.
