Pahalgam Attack: Amit Shah to arrive in Srinagar shortly to chair security meet

Home Minister Amit Shah will shortly arrive in Srinagar to hold an emergency meeting with security agencies following a terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam that took place today in the afternoon.

In a post on X, he condemned the terror attack, stating that he is anguished by the attack on tourists in Pahalgam. “My thoughts are with the family members of the deceased. Those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared, and we will come down heavily on the perpetrators with the harshest consequences”, he said.

Shah added that he has also briefed PM Modi about the incident. “Briefed PM Modi about the incident and held a meeting with the concerned officials via video conferencing. Will shortly leave for Srinagar to hold an urgent security review meeting with all the agencies”, he stated.

Earlier, sources said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to Saudi Arabia, spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah over phone on the Pahalgam terror attack. The PM asked Amit Shah to take all suitable measures, and to also visit the attack site.

Terrorists attacked a group of tourists in the Baisarana village of Pahalgam today in the afternoon. As per officials, many are feared dead, while several have been injured in the attack.
