Srinagar: An Indian Navy officer, Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, was among the 28 people killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on Tuesday, officials said.

They said 26-year-old Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was posted in Kochi, was killed in the attack while he was on leave.

He is a native of Haryana and got married on April 16.

In one of the deadliest terror attacks since 2019, at least 28 people, including two locals and two foreigners, were killed and several others were injured near the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), an amalgam of various Islamic religious bodies in Jammu and Kashmir, headed by Kashmir’s chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has called for a shutdown against the civilian killing on Wednesday.
