Islamabad/Washington: Amid the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions, the US State Department has warned its diplomatic personnel in Islamabad to restrict their movements.

Citing security reasons, in a brief press release, a spokesperson for the State Department said: “We have directed all diplomatic staff in Pakistan to restrict movement as a precautionary measure,” the spokesperson added,

While no immediate threat was publicly disclosed, officials suggested the advisory was issued out of an abundance of caution, reported Samaa TV.

It remains unclear whether the advisory applies solely to staff in Islamabad or extends to consulates in Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar.

As both countries engage in military action, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had earlier called up Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, asking him to de-escalate.

A similar call was made to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, with Rubio urging External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar, to ‘re-establish communication’ with Pakistan to avoid further escalation.
