New Delhi: India’s total active Covid-19 cases approached nearly 7,500 on Saturday, with 269 new infections reported in the past 24 hours until 8 am. The number of deaths was slightly higher than usual, with nine fatalities recorded during the same period, as per the data available from the Union Health Ministry.
Gujarat, Kerala, and Maharashtra have been reporting the highest number of cases. 257 active cases on May 22 rose to over 7,400 by June 14. 11,967 patients have recovered from the virus, according to government data.
Among the nine recent deaths, four were reported in Maharashtra, three in Kerala, and one each in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. Most of the deceased had pre-existing health conditions.
