Amarnath Yatra: Fresh batch of over 6000 pilgrims leaves from Jammu base camp

Jammu: Amid rains, a fresh batch of more than 6000 pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Yatra amid the chants of ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ this morning left for the holy cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas here from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas.

Officials said that the pilgrims left from the Jammu base camp in a fleet of 248 vehicles.

“A fresh batch of 6388 pilgrims this morning left for Shri Amarnath Yatra cave shrine in Kashmir from Jammu base camp amid tight security arrangements,” they added.

They said that 3887 pilgrims left for Pahalgam and 2501 for Baltal in a fleet of 248 vehicles comprising Light Motor Vehicles and Heavy Motor Vehicles.

The yatra has already crossed the two lakh mark.

The 38-day annual pilgrimage started from both routes on July 2 with the flagging off of the first batch from here by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

The yatra will end on August 9.

So far, around 2 lakh pilgrims have visited the shrine.
