New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will embark on an official visit to Russia from August 19-21 at the invitation of First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
Jaishankar will co-chair the 26th session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) on August 20 in Moscow, as per an official statement by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Jaishankar is also scheduled to address the India-Russia Business Forum meeting in Moscow and hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to review the bilateral agenda and exchange views on regional and global developments.
The visit aims to strengthen India and Russia’s Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. This partnership has been a cornerstone of their relationship for years.
The Foreign Ministry of Russia, in a post on X, said that EAM Jaishankar and Russian FM Sergey Lavrov’s meeting would discuss key issues on the bilateral agenda, as well as key aspects of cooperation within international frameworks.
