Kochi: In a vindication to our continuous expose by the GoaChronicle.com team on accused rapist Bishop Franco Mulakkal, a second nun has accused the Catholic Church of India senior clergyman of hugging her, kissing her and making sexually-lewd remarks over the phone.
GoaChronicle.com had stated in 2018 that there was a woman (we did not disclose that it was nun to protect the interest of the victim) who is also a witness in the rape case registered against Bishop Franco Mulakkal by a 44-year old nun who accused the clergyman of rape and sodomy multiple times.

The nun in her statement stated they were in communication via phone calls, chat and video calls for a period of two years from 2015 to 2017. She also that in 2017, the bishop visited the convent she was in and hugged and kissed her.
The chargesheet in the case of the 44-year old nun was submitted in April 2019. In the chargesheet, Bishop Franco Mullackal has been charged under various sections of the IPC: 342 (wrongful confinement), 376 (2k) (rape on a woman incapable of giving consent), 376 (2n) (causing grievous bodily harm during rape), 376 (c) (a) 377 (unnatural offence) and 506 (1) (criminal intimidation).
Bishop Franco Mulakkal is the first bishop of the Catholic Church in India to be arrested on accusations rape.
