Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in a highly questionable decision has turned to Popular Front of India (PFI) for the respectable disposal of the bodies of Muslim COVID-19 patients.

PFI is currently under-investigation by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and several Indian intelligence agencies for their known links with Islamic radical organisations, some who have been linked to terror attacks in India and globally.

The PFI recently came under the radar of the intelligence agencies for their direct links in the Delhi riots and the murder of an IB officer Ankit Sharma.

Mohammad Iliyas, secretary and Parvez Ahmed, president of the Delhi PFI were arrested for instigating and funding Delhi riots by the Special Cell of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

PFI is being probed by the ED for allegedly routing about ₹120 crore to fuel anti-CAA riots in the country.

Three states UP, Assam and Karnataka have written to the MHA asking for a ban on the PFI and terming it as a terror-linked organisation.

That BMC could turn to PFI for the respectable disposal of COVID-19 patients from the Muslims community is alarming.
