Kolkata: Leader of the Opposition in the Bengal Legislative Assembly Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday sought the intervention of Governor CV Ananda Bose over the vandalism at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on the previous night.

Government property, police outpost, CCTV cameras and a server room came under attack by a mob of armed unidentified people on Wednesday night, police said.

Nine suspects have been arrested for the attack in which 15 police personnel were injured, police said.

Adhikari said the Central Bureau of Investigation should note the attack was a brazen attempt to destroy evidence in the doctor’s rape-cum-murder.

Adhikari alleged the Trinamool Congress workers were behind the attack on the apolitical protest rally near RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday night.

The vandalism happened around midnight while people from all walks of life were peacefully protesting the alleged rape and murder of a 2nd year post-graduate lady medic in the hospital on August 9.
