Thrissur: Squarely blaming the Congress for its dominant attitude which is responsible for BJP emerging victorious in three Northern states, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said there should have been a proper understanding between different parties against the BJP.

“The Congress attitude that they could win against the BJP alone in Madhya Pradesh led to the defeat. What the Congress did to the Samajwadi party would not be accepted by any party”, Mr Vijayan said while interacting with media here.

He said the Congress should understand that they cannot defeat the BJP alone. The grand old party should understand that they need to bring all parties together and if all come together, then it is possible to defeat BJP.

The Chief Minister said the assembly elections were viewed as the most important elections before the next Lok Sabha election. When you are facing BJP, you should have maximum cooperation among all allies. The Congress thought they are going to win alone as they are strong, but that is what landed them in trouble.

The attitude that they have already won the election has led to their disastrous defeat in northern states–Madhyra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

He said CPI(M) lost two seats as the party did not get support of the Congress. Both together could have defeated the BJP, he reminded.

Mr Vijayan said the Congress also miserably failed to counter the wrong policies being followed by the BJP.
