BCCI announces women’s squads for multi-format series against S Africa

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have named three squads for the upcoming multi-format series against South Africa beginning from June 16.

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead India in all the three formats against South Africa, with Smriti Mandhana as her deputy.

Batter Jemimah Rodrigues and pacer Pooja Vastrakar are a part of all three squads but their availability will be subject to fitness.

A three-match ODI series will kick off the tour, which will be a part of the 2022-25 ICC Women’s Championship. The matches will be contested in Bengaluru.

India’s ODI squad for three-match ODI series:

Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh (WK), Uma Chetry (WK), Dayalan Hemalatha, Radha Yadav, Asha Sobhana, Shreyanka Patil, Saika Ishaque, Pooja Vastrakar, Renuka Singh Thakur, Arundhati Reddy, Priya Punia

India’s Test squad for one-off Test:

The ODI series will be followed by only Test (June 28 to July 1). This will be India’s third home Test in less than a year, as the team hosted Australia and England at Wankhede last year, an ICC report said.

Chennai will host a women’s Test match for the first time since 1976 when West Indies played a Test against India.

The tour will finish with a three T20I game series (July 5-9) that will also be played in Chennai.
