Bengal LOP Suvendu slams CID

Kolkata: Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly and BJP MLA from Nandigram Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday came down heavily on the state police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), accusing it of “indulging in criminality”.

Taking to Twitter, Adhikari said, ” Disgrace, total disgrace! The once glorious CID has now become the paid janitor of WB’s Bua-Bhatija”.

The bua-bhatija barb is apparently directed at chief minister Mamata Banerjee and her nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee.

Adhikari alleged that the CID was “intimidating” under-trial prisoners to give “false” statements against state’s opposition leaders.

“CID is indulging in criminality for advancing the nefarious interest of the Banerjees by intimidating under trial prisoners to give false statements against WB Opposition Leaders, ” he stated.

” This reminds me of a famous saying ….”When the Government fears the People, there is liberty. When the People fear the Government, there is tyranny, ” he commented.

” The choice to select between tyranny and liberty is left to the people of West Bengal, ” Adhikari added.
