Washington: President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate senior diplomat Jennifer Gavito to be the new US ambassador to Libya, the White House said in a release.
Jennifer Gavito has a long and distinguished career in the senior Foreign Service, holding a class of Minister-Counselor. Most recently, she served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq, Iran, Press and Public Diplomacy.
Gavito also served in the US embassy in London and as Consul General in Munich, Germany, the release added.
As a specialist on the Middle East, Gavito served previously in the US missions in the United Arab Emirates, Syria, Lebanon and Israel, according to the release.
