Chennai: Reacting for the first time on the two audio clips released by BJP Tamil Nadu Unit President K.Annamalai purportedly containing the voice of Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan alleging corruption, Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin today
said he did not want to give publicity to those indulging in cheap politics on the issue.

Replying to questions under ‘Ungalil Oruvan’ (One among you) episode, Mr Stalin said the Finance Minister himself has twice clarified on the issue.

He said there was “cheap politics” going on in the alleged controversial audio tapes containing the voice of Mr Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and that he did not want to talk further on this issue and give publicity to anyone.

“PTR himself had clarified twice and I do not want to talk anything further on this and give publicity to those indulging in cheap politics,” he added.

Mr Stalin’s reaction comes a day after he met Mr Stalin at his residence during which he had reportedly clarified his stance on the issue, though reports described the meeting as a courtesy call in which discussions centred around today’s Cabinet meeting.

Reacting to the audio clips, the Finance Minister posted a video on his twitter clarifying that the audio was unauthentic and fabricated using Deepfake and called the BJP’s attempt cheap tactics to disrupt the good work of the Dravidian model governance of the DMK.

It may be recalled that AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Edappadi K Palaniswami in his recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah had urged him to probe the leaked audio clips and bring the truth to light.
