Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday alleged that the BJP government has completely failed to control the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to mediapersons in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday the former Chief Minister said “if the situation was stable in Jammu and Kashmir what is the need to provide arms to the local people”.

She claimed that more troops are being brought to Jammu and Kashmir to control the situation.

“BJP has completely failed to control the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and now they are putting the guns on the shoulders of the soldiers to suppress the people here,” she said.

Mufti said the recent attacks has negated the claims of the BJP that normalcy has returned to J&K after abrogation of Article 370.

She said Jammu and Kashmir has already been turned into the military garrison and there was no need to induct more troops into it.

She said the Army has controlled the situation for the past three decades here to the extent that democratic process was restored and Assembly, Parliament and Panchayat elections were possible .

“Now there is no more role of the army as top Army officers and top Political leaders believe that Jammu and Kashmir is a political issue and there is no military solution to it, ”she said.

“The army has done its work for the cause of Kashmir and now the BJP wants to shoot guns from the shoulders of soldiers”, she alleged.

“If the problems could be solved with the military might then China who martyred our 20-22 soldiers and grabbed 2000 square kilometers of our soil… still they are engaged in dialogue and reconciliation,” she said

She alleged that the BJP’s aim and personnel agenda was to divide two communities and to create a war like situation so that a brother would fight another brother.
