Hyderabad: BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao was taken into custody on Monday as he stood in solidarity and participated in a sit-in protest along with Vidya Volunteers at the School Education Commissioner’s office in Lakdikapool.

The demonstration was organised to demand the renewal of their positions.

The Vidya Volunteers staged a peaceful protest by occupying the road in front of the School Education Commissioner’s Office, pressing for the renewal of their contracts and the settlement of three months’ pending salaries.

In a show of support, MLA Raghunandan Rao joined forces with the Vidya Volunteers, joining them in the protest.

However, tension escalated between the Police and the Vidya Volunteers during an argument. In the midst of the situation, Raghunandan Rao was detained by the police and subsequently taken to Nampally police station.
